When we first launched Mint Telecom 5 years ago, one of our very first customers was popular furniture retailer, The Importer.

A purely Tasmanian owned and operated furniture and homewares retailer. They operate three stores from Burnie, Launceston and Kingston in the south. This successful business is a 2nd-generation run operation now managed by Charles Beaumont who employs 22 Tasmanians across the island.

Charles’ parents started it back in the 70’s and 47 years later it is still going strong.

The Importers telco needs were very simple, like most SME’s across Tasmania – internet and telephone services. Nothing complicated there.

We had a chat with Charles recently and this is what he had to say…

“We switched to Mint purely on trust and reputation. We knew Mint was very different to our previous telco.” Charles said.

“The number one difference?  I can get an answer to any issues within 5 minutes of my call or email, which is pretty hard to do with all other telcos. Everything is fixed immediately and it doesn't matter what time of the day either.”

“I’ve tried a few telcos over the years. And we’ve had difficulty with the bigger guys and struggled to get through at times especially after hours. We’ve had very few issues now over the last few years. The only contact we’ve had recently is we needed a new modem but that was sorted within 24 hours!”

“And for anyone considering switching, my advice is pretty straight forward – move across to Mint. They’re very personal, cost effective and their customer service is as good as it gets.”

“And switching is not hard.  As little as putting a few signatures on a few papers, done within minutes. I know some people get right down to dollars and cents and look at bills but a lot of people don’t have time for that”.

“At the end of the day, you go with who you trust and to be honest, even if it was a bit more expensive, it wouldn’t worry me.”
